Position in the greater unknown

One world. Two realities.

Oti-Zahruhl is one planet within a much larger galaxy, but it occupies a place few worlds could survive: the crossing point of two dimensions.

One reality contains the sun. The other contains the planet. When they crossed, neither completely gave way. They fused.

The seam left by that collision is known as the Rift. Its stability influences gravity, distance, weather, biology and the planet’s astonishing capacity for growth.

On one side: endless radiance, living cities, abundant Aether and landscapes shaped by expansion. On the other: immense shadow, ancient memory, deep currents and life that does not require light to recognise itself.

Oti-Zahruhl is predominantly a place of life and good intent. It is not innocent. Its survival depends on maintaining a balance that is never guaranteed.

The Rift

Gateway.

Warning.
Perhaps all three.

The Rift is not simply a canyon dividing Oti-Zahruhl. It is the place where two realities continue to press against one another.

Near it, gravity becomes unreliable. Distances contract. Aether becomes volatile. Fragments of land break free and remain suspended above the world. Plants and creatures encounter possibilities for growth that would be impossible elsewhere.

An immense temple has been built around the Rift’s core. It is sanctuary, observatory, border, archive and defensive structure at once.

The temple does not make the Rift understood. It gives the unknown a shape that people can approach.

The city above the Rift

Arnemaelia

Our story begins high in the sky, with the largest city currently explored: Arnemaelia.

Floating above the cloud layers somewhere on the immense world of Oti-Zahruhl, it is a vast collection of suspended districts, bridges, towers, ports, impossible interiors and Aether pathways.

Arnemaelia is beautiful. It is also built somewhere falling is always possible.

Its people do not remove the edge. They learn how to live beside it.

Three ways into the world

Oti-Zahruhl is much larger than Arnemaelia. Cloud Girls, DUCH8 and the Jxinie give us three very different first ways into its life.

Cloud Girls and Aetherkin moving through Arnemaelia

01

Cloud Girls

Often mistaken for dancers. They are synchronisers.

Cloud Girls use movement as a language, training until intention, rhythm and emotion become readable to another living being.

Their most important relationship is with the Aetherkin: sentient creatures that cannot be owned, summoned or forced into partnership.

The Cloud Girl prepares. She dances her truth. Then she goes Off the Edge.

If an Aetherkin chooses her, it catches her. That recognition begins the Aetherbinding: a bond between Cloud Girl, Aetherkin and Oti-Zahruhl itself.

Not ownership.
Recognition.

02

DUCH8

DUCH8 are a reconstruction culture and an armed, peace-enforcing faction. Their highest population is on Oti-Zahruhl, but their bases exist across many worlds.

They took up arms where established armies could not defend their own people. Their purpose is not conquest; it is to fill the gaps left when protection fails.

That purpose can still make them intimidating, political and difficult to separate from war.

To DUCH8, a broken body is not automatically a body that must be restored to what it once was.

Organic tissue, mechanical limbs, adaptive armour, engineered nerves, living materials and memory structures may all become part of a reconstructed individual.

There is no standard DUCH8 body. Every reconstruction carries the history of the person inside it.

They do not worship machinery. They do not seek perfection.

To be unfinished
is to remain in motion.

Jxinie & the Glowbulbs

Jxinie are built from the ground up, so there is no single Jxinie form. They can be organic, mechanical, armoured, soft, tiny, elongated, familiar or profoundly alien.

Some are cute and fluffy. Many are not. They are often created to be aesthetically pleasing—but beauty on Earth is only one local idea among countless worlds.

They are important to Oti-Zahruhl because of their relationship with the Glowbulbs. In an environment already charged by the Rift, the Glowbulbs found an enhanced potential for growth.

Once they took off, they truly took off—spreading life, colour and possibility through the environments around them.

Their deeper lifecycle and the strange origin of the first Glowbulb remain records for another time.

The remote Plateaus of Elion

The Living Chains

The Plateaus of Elion lie within Oti-Zahruhl. They are not impossibly distant from its populated regions, but they are remote, treacherous and deliberately difficult to find.

Every culture possesses knowledge too sacred, dangerous or consequential to leave unguarded. Across the Plateaus, that knowledge is kept apart: an offsite archive for relics, histories, rites and forces whose loss—or misuse—could alter more than one civilisation.

The Plateaus are crystalline energy conduits. Ancient glyphs, guarded temples and dimensional structures sit within terrain that responds to planetary and Rift pressure.

The Living Chains are the elite order entrusted with that ground. They move through it as a linked, disciplined network, attuned to the living stone and trained to recognise changes before outsiders can exploit them.

Travellers approaching the blue dimensional Rift on Oti-Zahruhl

The pressure beneath the wonder

Everyone wants something from the Rift

People have travelled toward the Rift for so long that entire cultures have grown around gaining access to it.

Some arrive through study, ritual, diplomacy or pilgrimage. Others arrive invasively: trespassing, bargaining, occupying forgotten spaces, squatting in the margins and testing every weakness in the systems built to hold the seam stable.

On the steps of the great temple are petitioners, traders, displaced beings and beggars from worlds and galaxies that Arnemaelia has never seen. Some want healing. Some want shelter. Some want knowledge. Some want control.

That makes Oti-Zahruhl intense. Good and evil are too small to contain all of it. Wherever life finds room to grow, greed, fear and the lust for power grow beside it—forces obsessed with their own survival even when everything around them must be constrained.

The Rift is the word for what remains unexplained—the space where magic, mana, science and faith become different languages for the same unknown.

The record remains open

We have barely started

Everything above is only an entry point. Oti-Zahruhl is deliberately enormous, the galaxy around it is crowded with unanswered lives, and the realities pressing against it remain largely unexplored.

There are cities we have not entered. Creatures without names. Cultures protecting knowledge we have not earned. Beings waiting at the Rift. Regions whose purpose has not been decided. Stories still waiting to exist.
